Study and Implementation of Lean Manufacturing in a Garment Manufacturing Company: Bangladesh Perspective
Lean manufacturing is a systematic approach to identifying and eliminating wastes (non-value added activities) through continuous improvement by conveying the product at the pull of the customer in pursuit of production. In a more basic term, more value with less work. Since lean manufacturing eliminates many of the problems associated with poor production scheduling and line balancing, lean ma...
متن کاملThe use of laser in garment manufacturing: an overview
Introduction Laser is being used in apparel industry from ninenteenth century. Recently the use of laser in apparel industry is increasing in cutting garment patterns, patterning designer neckties, 3D body scanning, denim fading and engraving leather (Nayak and Khandual 2010; Istook and Hwang 2001; Simmons and Istook 2003; Ortiz-Morales et al. 2003; Ozguney 2007; Bahtiyari 2011). The major reas...
متن کاملAutomated Garment Manufacturing System Using Novel Sensing and Actuation
Attempts to automate the sewing process of garment manufacturing have employed substitutes for human guidance of fabric into somewhat conventional sewing machines. A new approach has been proposed and partially verified in prototype form. It consists of several subsystems responsible for 1) gross fabric motion, 2) precision detection of the fabric location and 3) exact placement of the needle i...

متن کاملBiologically inspired mutual synchronization of manufacturing machines
A biologically inspired manufacturing control system for synchronous delivery of jobs at a batch machine is developed. This control system is based on a synchronization mechanism of enzymes replacing the role of product molecules with kanbans. This manufacturing control system works well, provided the variability in service times is not too high.
